Mariposa Community Health Center’s “Operational Site Review”
Mariposa Community Health Center’s “Operational Site Review”, conducted by the Federal Health Resources Services Administration April 12-14, resulted in Mariposa fully meeting all of the nineteen health center program requirements. As a federally qualified community health center, Mariposa is periodically reviewed to determine compliance with requirements of the health center program. The requirements include evaluating how Mariposa determines and responds to community health needs; a review of the services we provide to ensure all required services are available to all regardless of ability to pay; management and finance systems; health center governance, clinical and financial performance and identifying innovation and best practices.
The review team identified four areas of “best practices” at Mariposa including:
- Mariposa’s role in providing public health programs in collaboration with the county including immunizations, tuberculosis testing and monitoring and administration of the WIC and Well Woman Health Check programs county-wide.
- Mariposa’s early adoption of Promotora (Community Health Worker) based community health programs
- Mariposa’s Care Management and Care Plus programs which provide more focused services for patients living with chronic conditions
- Availability of deeply discounted hospital and specialty care for uninsured individuals.
“An Operational Site Review with no negative findings if very rare” said John McDonald, CEO of the Arizona Alliance of Community Health Centers. “We are very proud of the care we provide to our communities and the commitment of our employees. It is rewarding to have this validated from outside sources” said Sigrid Maitrejean, Mariposa’s President of the Board of Directors.
